Yorkville, IL — The Yorkville Christian Mustangs wrapped up a strong 2024-25 campaign with a 21-12 record and a deep postseason run that ended in the IHSA Regional Final, showcasing a team balanced by seasoned leadership and emerging young talent.


Head Coach and Athletic Director Aaron Sovern credited the team’s success to a mix of experienced seniors and a dynamic underclassman backcourt that promises a bright future for the program.


Standout Performers


Jayden Riley (2026) – The team’s engine and one of the best point guards in the state. Averaged 23 points and 8 assists per game, earning All-State honors as a sophomore.


Tray Alford (2027) – Explosive freshman who put up 15 points per game, earning All-Area recognition.


Zach Marini (2025) – Reliable scorer with 14 points per game, and a steady contributor throughout the year.


Brady Sovern (2025) – Team captain and inspirational leader, returning from a torn ACL to start all 33 games, while shooting 41% from three.


Noah Aguado (2025) – Double-double machine averaging 11 points and 11 rebounds.


Jordan Purvis (2027) – Young sharpshooter who hit 80 three-pointers and averaged 8 points per game.

Coach Sovern highlighted the emergence of Jayden Riley as arguably the best point guard in Illinois and praised the development of several underclassmen who stepped into bigger roles as the season progressed.


A key storyline was Brady Sovern’s comeback. After suffering a torn ACL in April 2024, he returned to lead the team both emotionally and competitively, serving as an inspiration with his resilience and commitment.

The senior group of Brady Sovern, Zach Marini, Noah Aguado, Sam, and Jaylen brought consistent leadership, energy, and a strong example for younger players. Captains Brady and Zach set the tone with their work ethic and poise, helping guide the Mustangs to another winning season.
