West Carrollton High School – Cheerleading Offseason Report

Offseason Focus

The West Carrollton cheer program is in a season of rebuilding and revival. After the setbacks brought on by COVID, the main offseason focus has been boosting participation, rebuilding a strong program foundation, and helping athletes become the best versions of themselves—both physically and mentally. “We’re working hard to get girls back out here, keep them healthy, and grow our program’s numbers and spirit,” Coach Oda shared.

Special Offseason Events

This summer, the team will attend the UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) Camp, a cornerstone event that delivers elite instruction and powerful team bonding. “The camp is a game-changer,” said Oda. “It brings our girls together and gets them mentally and physically ready for the season ahead.”

Notable Additions & Departures

This year marks a new chapter for West Carrollton Cheer as Riley Oda steps into her first season as Head Coach. Under her leadership, the program is expanding, with the addition of both a traditional competition team and a gameday competition team—a major milestone for the program’s growth.

Coaching Perspective

Coach Oda is entering her first season with a fresh mindset and a focus on development, unity, and progress. While details on new strategies are still evolving, her emphasis on building strong team culture and competition readiness is already shifting the energy around the program.

Biggest Challenges Ahead

The biggest challenge for West Carrollton Cheer this season is rebuilding momentum and roster depth in the post-COVID era. However, with a growing program, strong summer preparation, and an energized new coaching staff, the team is set to take bold steps forward.
