The 2024-25 season was a milestone year for the Warren Fitzgerald boys basketball program. With a combination of elite leadership, hard-nosed defense, and a commitment to team culture, the Spartans delivered one of their best campaigns in recent memory, finishing with a stellar 20-3 overall record and capturing the league/division championship.

Key Contributors

This year’s success was fueled by several standout players:

Cyrus Mpeba led the team in scoring with 20 points per game. A true leader on and off the court, Cyrus set the tone for the program through his relentless work ethic and character. He will continue his academic and athletic journey at Grand Valley State University.

LyDell Sewell, another key senior, was known for his unwavering commitment and steady leadership. As the season progressed, he continued to improve and inspire those around him. He will be playing at Heidelberg University next year.

Keandre Burtin was the team’s defensive anchor, averaging a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) along with 2 blocks per game. His presence in the paint was invaluable on both ends of the floor.

Season Summary

Coach Venias Jordan described the season as a great success. The Spartans’ consistent winning streak helped shape the team’s identity and built momentum throughout the year. Although the journey ended in the district semifinals, the overall performance, including a league title, sets a strong foundation for future postseason runs.

Emerging Talent

Among the developing players, Quenten Graham stood out. He grew from a young role player into a dependable contributor, averaging 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. His continued growth is a major point of excitement heading into next season.

Team Resilience

Despite the challenges that naturally come with a long season—injuries, pressure, and close games—the team consistently responded with maturity and toughness. The strong leadership of the senior class ensured the Spartans stayed focused and united.

Senior Impact

The graduating class leaves behind a powerful legacy. Their leadership, accountability, and hunger to win have reshaped the culture of the program and inspired younger players to follow their path.

Looking Ahead

The future is bright for Warren Fitzgerald basketball. With a talented group of returners who now understand what it takes to win, combined with a strong JV class moving up, Coach Jordan is eager to build on this year's momentum. Key goals this offseason include strengthening the team's shooting and developing greater depth across the roster.
