Key Contributors
The Mustangs were anchored by standout performances from Nathan Yen, Myles Wainwright, and Isiah Leon. Each of these athletes played a pivotal role in pushing the team forward and was instrumental in the team’s success throughout the season.
Season Overview
Coach Khouzam described the year as “pretty good” overall, though consistency proved to be a struggle. Despite the ups and downs, the team remained competitive and showed resilience in key moments.
Turning Point
One defining moment came early in the year during a must-win game in a tournament. "I felt that game gave us some momentum," said Khouzam. That victory helped galvanize the team and instilled belief moving into the rest of the season.
Player Development
Several players grew into larger roles as the year progressed. Notably, Jeremiah Vasquez and Kiko Guevara stepped up and embraced their opportunities, providing critical support and stability during the season.
Overcoming Adversity
The team faced numerous challenges, including a 10-day stretch where multiple players were sidelined with illness. This forced Coach Khouzam to shuffle the lineup, with different starters in four consecutive games. Remarkably, other players rose to the occasion, showcasing the depth and character of the team.
Senior Leadership
The senior class brought much-needed leadership and consistency. “Lots of leadership and stability,” Coach Khouzam emphasized, pointing to the integral role the seniors played in guiding the younger players and maintaining team cohesion.
Looking Ahead
While Coach Khouzam didn’t detail specific offseason plans or returning players, there’s an unmistakable sense of optimism about the program's future. With key players gaining valuable experience this season, the foundation is set for continued growth.
