Maryvale Volleyball Eyes Fifth Straight Conference Title with New Faces, Same Winning Culture
The Maryvale Preparatory School Varsity Volleyball team isn’t just preparing for another season—they’re preparing to defend a dynasty. After winning four consecutive Conference Championships, Head Coach Melissa Little and her team know the pressure is on.
“We have a big target on our back,” said Coach Little. “Our biggest challenge will be continuing to work hard and stay humble while maintaining the high standards that have set us apart.”
Offseason Momentum
While some teams go quiet in the offseason, Maryvale stays loud—literally. Monthly Friday Night Gyms filled with music, laughter, and high-level play help build camaraderie and keep energy high. These are paired with school-sponsored clinics and camps that run throughout the summer, while many team members also sharpen their skills through club volleyball in winter and spring.
“The goal is to create synergy and keep the girls’ hands on the ball year-round,” Coach Little emphasized.
Notable Shifts and New Roles
Although the team is losing two key starters, Coach Little remains confident in her returning and upcoming talent. The coaching staff also sees change, with an assistant coach stepping down and new support staff stepping up.
Players to Watch
Keep an eye on Miley Snodgrass, a returning starter expected to lead the team this year. Her dedication and presence make her a cornerstone of Maryvale’s continued success.
Also rising to the forefront are rising senior Abbi Tranchini and rising junior Sophie Harari. Both are exceptional talents who bring tremendous drive and dedication to the program.
Fitness, Focus, and Fundamentals
Maryvale’s preseason program includes jump training, strength and agility workouts, and endurance-building, alongside team bonding activities to ensure unity on and off the court. Coach Little also stays sharp through coaching club teams, hosting year-round clinics, and participating in coaching webinars focused on positive mindset and leadership.
School Spirit and Sisterhood
Maryvale’s tight-knit community fuels the team’s motivation.
“The sisterhood bond is strong,” Coach Little shared. “Our student body loves coming out to cheer. Volleyball is exciting—and when your team produces, fans follow.”
The Road Ahead
With a championship streak to protect and a roster of dedicated athletes, Maryvale Volleyball is focused on legacy but grounded in hard work.
“We’ll need to trust in our preparation, stay focused, and be ready for everyone’s best shot,” said Little.
