After a strong showing last season, Herriman High School football is doubling down on grit and growth as the 2025 season approaches. Under the leadership of Head Coach Matt Rickards, the offseason has been laser-focused on one key element: physicality.

“We’ve spent a lot of time focusing on developing our physicality and competitiveness,” Coach Rickards said. “We feel strongly that our weight room and other offseason activities have been successful in reaching those goals—but we won’t find out until the season starts.”

Offseason Highlights

The team is set to attend the Southern Utah University (SUU) Team Camp in June, a key opportunity for both skill development and team bonding.

Strength Behind the Scenes

Herriman’s offseason program has been all-in, with players showing measurable improvements both athletically and academically. The weight room has become a proving ground for athletes who are grinding with purpose and precision.

And they’re not going it alone—three former NFL players are on the coaching staff, offering elite-level insight, mentorship, and intensity to the program.

Players to Watch

While Coach Rickards didn’t name names, he emphasized that many returning players with game-time experience have made serious strides. These athletes have impressed in both their offseason performance and in the classroom.

Preparing the Mind and Body

From a coaching standpoint, the Herriman staff continues to sharpen its playbook and preparation. With such high-caliber coaching and player development, the Mustangs are poised to compete at a high level again this year.

Looking Ahead

The biggest challenge? Keeping that competitive edge sharp through the grind of a long season. But with this group’s mentality and preparation, don’t be surprised if Herriman makes another serious push come playoff time.
