Oklahoma City, OK – As the spirit leaders of Douglass High School, the cheer team is gearing up for a transformative season filled with new faces, rising stars, and a focus on mastering the fundamentals. Under the leadership of Coach Allecia Reed, the Trojans are working hard to rebuild after a significant turnover, with over 75% of the roster graduating or moving on.

Offseason Priorities: Strength in Stunts and Tumbling

This summer, the squad is diving into intensive work on stunting and tumbling—two of the most technical and crowd-thrilling aspects of cheerleading. With so many new athletes joining the team, Coach Reed is prioritizing foundation-building skills that will elevate performance and ensure safety throughout the season.

Summer Spirit at NCA Camp

To build chemistry and polish routines, the Trojans are set to attend NCA Cheer Camp at Southern Nazarene University (SNU) from June 16–18. The camp is a key opportunity for bonding, learning new skills, and experiencing a higher level of competition and instruction.

Faces to Watch: Makenzie, Jamya, and Bryonne

Despite the roster changes, Coach Reed is confident in the returning leadership and new talent stepping up this year. Keep your eyes on:

Makenzie Hardiman

Jamya Daniels

Bryonne Allen

These athletes are emerging as leaders both in performance and spirit, and are expected to play pivotal roles in helping shape the team’s identity this season.

Challenges Ahead: Inexperience Meets Opportunity

The biggest challenge for Douglass Cheer this year? Inexperience. But for Coach Reed, that also means opportunity. “We have a lot of new girls, and while that presents challenges, it also gives us the chance to shape them into the team we want to be,” she shared.

With energy, effort, and guidance, this group has the potential to grow quickly and surprise fans with their progress by mid-season.
