In a season filled with heart, grit, and program-defining victories, the Deckerville Eagles delivered a breakthrough year, capturing their first district championship in 16 years and setting a new standard for success.

Standout Leaders Set the Tone

While every player played a role in this year’s accomplishments, two standouts led the charge:

Logan Martin and Hunter Garza received multiple postseason honors, including All-State, All-County, All-Conference, and BCAM Best. Their leadership, on and off the court, helped raise expectations for what Deckerville basketball can be.

“These two young men set the stage for our program,” said Coach Gobie. “They’re what we want future Eagles to strive toward.”

A Season of Growth and Breakthroughs

Coach Gobie called the season a resounding success, highlighted by thrilling buzzer-beater wins and the kind of close games that define a team’s character.

The Eagles didn’t just win—they changed the culture.

One of the turning points came after a tough overtime loss to a top league rival. The team responded by ramping up the intensity in practice, eventually handing that same rival their only league loss of the season. Deckerville then went on to deliver their best performance of the year in the district championship, defeating a team that had long had their number.

Rising Players, Relentless Depth

When starter Corbin Sharbowski went down with an injury, junior Evan Benjay stepped up. What started as a bench role turned into a starting point guard position, and Benjay's growth was key to keeping the Eagles on track.

“Every player has been a starter at some point,” Gobie emphasized. “When their number is called, they’re ready—and that made all the difference.”

Senior Class Leaves a Legacy

This senior class left everything on the floor:

Hunter Garza brought championship experience from the football field and led with intensity.

Preston Holman, Corbin Sharbowski, and Logan Martin each brought consistent energy, execution, and leadership that anchored the team throughout the season.

“We couldn’t have done it without them—every day they showed up and gave us everything,” said Gobie.

Future Looks Bright

Despite graduating key seniors, Coach Gobie is optimistic. With a roster full of returning players who’ve seen varsity action and a pipeline of talent from JV and incoming freshmen, Deckerville is built to stay competitive.

“We’ll be ready for every contest,” he said. “The expectations remain high.”

Offseason Focus

Heading into the offseason, the Eagles will zero in on:

Decision-making and shooting for the guards

Footwork and physicality for the post players
