Play1 Team Offseason Spotlight: Civic Memorial (Bethalto) Girls Golf

Offseason Focus

With the graduation of half the roster, this offseason has been all about recruitment and rebuilding for Civic Memorial’s girls golf program. The team is actively working on securing consistent driving range access to ensure players get the practice time they need to sharpen their skills ahead of the fall season.

Notable Additions & Departures

There’s been a shift in leadership this offseason:

Cody Moore takes over as the new Head Coach, bringing a fresh perspective to the program.

Jessica Zukas has been named the new JV coach.

In terms of players, the team is feeling the loss of several key contributors due to graduation, which adds urgency to the team’s recruitment efforts and development of new leaders.

Players to Watch

As the team transitions, it will be anchored by three returning seniors expected to take on major roles:

Adisen Lily

Brailey Harrop

Kaylee Brefeld

These athletes will provide experience and leadership as Civic Memorial retools its roster and prepares for a competitive season.

Coaching Perspective

Coach Moore is introducing several new elements to the team’s approach this season, including a strong emphasis on:

Mental preparedness

Speed of play

Course etiquette

These priorities will complement physical training and help players develop as well-rounded competitors both on and off the course.

Biggest Challenges Ahead

The most immediate challenge for Civic Memorial is replacing key contributors lost to graduation, while maintaining a competitive standard. With strong senior leadership and a coaching staff focused on growth, the team is determined to overcome this period of transition.
