At Westtown School, the offseason approach stands out thanks to its boarding school environment in West Chester, PA. Head Coach Shane Rineer emphasizes an individualized regimen during the spring semester that includes three days of strength training, along with competitive club soccer with top regional programs like Sporting AC, Penn Fusion, and FC Delco.

“Strength is a major focus for us during the offseason,” Rineer shared.

Coaching Game Plan: Flexibility and Development

As the coaching staff gears up for the 2025–26 campaign, their primary focus is on roster development and tactical planning.

“We’re first locking in the roster, then identifying two positions for each player to promote flexibility,” Rineer explained.

With a deep and talented pool, maximizing playing time while maintaining team chemistry will be a central strategy. Assistant Coach Tejan Walcott and Rineer are developing training sessions that emphasize game intelligence, technical sharpness, and tactical versatility.

Biggest Challenge: Managing Depth

The coaching staff’s most pressing challenge? Balancing minutes for a roster full of deserving players. With talent spread across every position, the key will be rotating players effectively while keeping the team cohesive and competitive.
