Valley Vista Cross Country: Building Momentum Through Mind, Body & Teamwork
Offseason Focus
This offseason, the Valley Vista Cross Country program is emphasizing physical preparation and nutrition awareness. Athletes are focusing on improving their endurance, strength, and overall health as they gear up for a competitive fall season.
Special Offseason Events
Valley Vista will be hosting cross country camps throughout June and July for all incoming athletes. These camps aim to develop skills, build team chemistry, and integrate new runners into the program in a supportive, energetic environment.
Notable Additions & Departures
While there are no confirmed staff additions yet, there are plans to hire a Boys Head Coach to bolster the coaching team. Coach Danielle Marshall also emphasizes that the team is open and welcoming all newcomers excited to join cross country.
Players to Watch
Three athletes expected to have breakout seasons this year include:
Juan Resendez-Martinez
Brandon Curiel-Garibaldi
Noah Franco
All three had a strong cross country season last year and followed it up with a solid track season. Their growth in both performance and maturity positions them for significant success this fall.
Weight Lifting and Fitness
The offseason includes a commitment to summer weight training and team bonding activities. These workouts aim to strengthen the athletes physically and reinforce team unity.
Nutrition
This season, there will be a renewed focus on diet and nutrition, helping athletes understand how healthy habits contribute directly to performance and recovery.
Coaching Perspective
Coach Danielle Marshall and the coaching team are working hard through summer running programs and athlete camps to ensure the team starts the season strong. The goal is clear: move in the right direction both strategically and culturally.
Fan Engagement & Community Impact
Last season brought a notable boost in fan and community engagement, and the team plans to continue building on that momentum. Strengthening connections beyond the track remains a priority.
Biggest Challenges Ahead
The mental aspect of the sport will be the biggest hurdle for many athletes. As Coach Marshall notes, mental toughness is a key component—not just in cross country, but in every sport. Addressing and overcoming this will be critical to the team’s success.
