In just their second competitive season, the Seckinger Wrestling program continues to grow into a formidable force in Georgia wrestling under Head Coach Keith Oldknow. With standout performances, gritty team efforts, and a deep roster of rising stars, the 2024–25 campaign was a clear step forward for the program.
Key Contributors:
Success was a complete team effort for the SKG squad, with six wrestlers advancing to the top 16 in the state:
Kymani Tinsley (Fr.) – 4th in State at 106 lbs
Jose Urdaneta-Silva – 4th in State
Zacariah Walker – Top 8 finish
Amari Bright – Top 12 finish
Flavio Drittlhuber – Top 12 finish
Andre Turenne – State Qualifier (Top 16, injured)
A Season to Remember:
Seckinger finished with an impressive 24-10 record in dual meets, winning the Region Duals Championship and the Traditional Region Championship. They also claimed first place at the Comet Clash and placed third at the competitive Gwinnett County Championship. The JV and freshman teams also shone, finishing top 3 in multiple events.
Turning Point:
A defining moment came in the region duals championship match, where SKG edged out Gainesville by a single point in a high-pressure finale. It was the spark that confirmed this young squad’s belief: they could compete—and win—at a championship level.
Next-Man-Up Mentality:
Despite being a young team, Seckinger wrestlers responded with poise and resilience in pressure situations. The team showed mental toughness throughout, a quality Coach Oldknow credits to “the best group of assistants in the state” and a relentless practice environment.
Emerging Talent:
Several underclassmen stepped into bigger roles:
Freshman Kymani Tinsley became a reliable point scorer and state medalist.
Freshman Luca Bardelli won the freshman county championship and earned varsity time.
Sophomore Flavio Drittlhuber emerged as a vocal team leader.
Gabriel Perez steadily improved throughout the year.
Senior Leadership:
The senior group of Isaiah Arrington, Zion Bivens, Amari Bright, and Erich Drittlhuber set the standard for work ethic, leadership, and focus, on and off the mat.
Bright Future Ahead:
With most of the lineup returning next season, the future looks very promising. At least six wrestlers are projected to be ranked in the preseason top 20, with Tinsley, Walker, and Urdaneta-Silva potentially cracking the top five in their respective weight classes.
Offseason Goals:
The offseason focus is on elevating strength and conditioning through added weight training, off-season tournaments, and year-round development.
