Petersburg Cross Country Eyes State Push with Entire Team Returning

After a strong finish at regionals last season—just six points away from second place—the Petersburg High School Cross Country team is entering 2025 with quiet confidence and big goals. Head Coach Marcos Rendon is thrilled to bring back every athlete from that near-state-qualifying squad.

“We return everyone that finished 5th at regionals,” said Coach Rendon. “That kind of continuity and experience is rare—and powerful.”

Full Roster Returns for Another Shot

With no major departures or additions, the team’s strength lies in its chemistry and consistency. The bond formed last year gives them a major advantage heading into this season, especially with several runners showing growth in the offseason.

Player to Watch: Aiden Beversdorf

Among the returning standouts is Aiden Beversdorf, a two-time state qualifier who continues to lead by example.

“Aiden’s work ethic, dedication, and leadership set the tone for the whole team,” Coach Rendon noted.

Beversdorf’s experience on the biggest stage is expected to inspire younger teammates and elevate the group’s overall performance.

Eyes on the Podium

With regional heartbreak still fresh in their minds, the Petersburg team is driven by the desire to finish what they started.

What’s Next?

While Coach Rendon didn’t reveal specific offseason camps or new strategies just yet, the message is clear: this team has unfinished business. With strong leadership, full roster continuity, and state-level talent, Petersburg Cross Country is poised to make a deep run in 2025.
