After a promising first season, Coach Joe Webb and the Mountain Brook flag football team are back at it, working to build on their early success with a renewed focus and a sense of fun.

“Our main focus this offseason has been recruiting more players, learning the game better, and most importantly—having fun in the process,” says Webb.

Offseason Goals: Growth and Joy

With the sport still relatively new to the school and coaching staff alike, Mountain Brook is emphasizing player development, learning, and enjoyment. The team is close-knit, which made for a memorable first year and is already laying the foundation for another fun and focused season.

Special Events & Team Bonding

While the team is not traveling to tournaments yet, Coach Webb says they’re excited to continue improving through summer practices and team bonding.

“We had a great time last year,” he shares. “That chemistry helped us compete and grow as a team. We want to keep that momentum going.”

Standout Players to Watch

While most roster decisions will take shape over summer practices, one returning player already stands out:

Reagan Rape – Made All-Region last year and is expected to be a key contributor again this season.

Balanced Training & Fitness

The team will train throughout the summer, but Coach Webb emphasizes a balanced approach.

“I want them to be kids too—take vacations, enjoy their summer. But we’ll still put in the work to be ready when the season kicks off.”

Looking Ahead: Strategy, Fans & Competition

As both coach and players gained experience last year, they’re coming into the new season with increased confidence and understanding of the game. Coach Webb says the team is focused on becoming more competitive while also growing the fanbase and community support around this exciting sport.

“We’re still building—not just the team, but the sport itself at our school. The goal is to keep getting better, together.”
