Under Head Coach Daryl Funai, La Quinta High School’s girls basketball team delivered a truly historic season, marking their best run since 1990.

Season Highlights
Overall Record: 25–6
League Record: 8–0 (League Champions)
Tournaments: Champions of the Fullerton Tournament; 5th place in the San Diego Classic (Bronze Division)
Postseason: Reached the Quarterfinals in the CIF State 4AA Division (after moving up from 5AA last year)
This season was not only dominant but also filled with milestones, making it one of the most memorable campaigns in school history.
Defining Moments
Big wins over Sierra Vista, Los Amigos (twice in league play), and Silverado in the playoffs proved to be key moments that defined La Quinta’s successful run and showcased the team’s growth and grit.
Player Development
Kaitlyn Mai and Ivy Hoa stepped up in a major way, growing into expanded roles and helping solidify the team’s success as the season progressed.
Resilience Under Pressure
Whether facing injuries, tough losses, or high-stakes games, the Aztecs responded admirably, staying composed, battling through adversity, and consistently finding ways to win.
Senior Leadership
With 13 seniors leading the squad, La Quinta benefited from a wealth of experience, leadership, and energy. This class played a critical role in the program’s breakthrough season and will leave a lasting legacy.
Looking Ahead
While the team will graduate nearly the entire roster (with only one player returning), Coach Funai is excited about the challenge of rebuilding. The focus will be on gaining valuable experience and continuing to build the program's strong foundation for future success.
Offseason Focus
The primary goal this offseason will be developing experience for the younger players to step into larger roles and continue the momentum generated this year.
