A Season to Remember

The 2024–2025 season will go down as one of the most memorable for East Kentwood Competitive Cheer under Head Coach Chris Hudson. The team showed unprecedented growth and tenacity, most notably by increasing their number of tucks from 7 at the start of the season to 15 by the end—a true testament to the athletes’ work ethic and determination.

"This was an incredible season,” said Coach Hudson. “Their dedication paid off big time, with score improvements in every round. I couldn’t be prouder."

Key Milestones and Turning Points

A defining turning point came in early December. The girls had steadily built their tuck count, moving from 7 to 13 by December 9. This upward trend highlighted the team's relentless drive and cemented their ability to compete at a high level. Every meet became a stage for showcasing their steady improvement.

Stepping Up Under Pressure

Injuries were a constant challenge throughout the season, yet the team never faltered. Whether it was learning new spots just hours before a meet or stepping in for an injured teammate, the Falcons showed they were built to endure.

“Nothing rattled them,” Coach Hudson shared. “They faced every obstacle head-on and turned challenges into growth opportunities.”

Breakout Performers

Several athletes significantly expanded their roles throughout the season.

Lauren Hawkins, Camille Guyton, and Clara Johnson started as one-round performers but evolved into multi-round contributors. Their adaptability and readiness helped push East Kentwood to regionals.

Senior Class Sets the Tone

The senior class was instrumental in building a strong team culture. Whether leading vocally, keeping the squad focused, or maintaining morale, each senior found a way to elevate the team.

“They embodied the ‘we before me’ mindset,” said Coach Hudson. “They were everything a coach could ask for in senior leaders.”

Building Toward a Stronger Future

While losing nine seniors will leave big shoes to fill, Coach Hudson is optimistic.

“This season has raised the bar. Our returning athletes—and the new ones coming in—are ready to rise to the challenge and continue the legacy.”

Offseason Focus: Skill and Strength

As they look ahead, the offseason focus will be on developing stronger skills and building both mental and physical resilience, ensuring the team is ready to take the next leap forward.
