Title: St. Paul High School Volleyball Prepares for Upcoming Season with Offseason Focus
Introduction:
Summer is upon us, and for the St. Paul High School volleyball team, this time of year isn't just about sunshine and vacations. It's about laying the groundwork for a successful upcoming season. We had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Lesli Hiller and learn about the team's focus, preparation and key players for this year.
Offseason Focus:
As a young team rebuilding this summer, their primary focus is on tactical court movement. Coach Hiller emphasizes the importance of honing and refining their skill set to set a strong foundation for the season. Proper movement and court tactics will be key to the team's success.
Special Offseason Events:
The team looks forward to competing in the Pacific Northwest Summer Volleyball Tournament in Centralia, Washington in July. This, coupled with a team camp in August and their participation in the summer league, will help them develop their skills and foster a sense of team unity. These special offseason events provide the team with the opportunity for improvement, camaraderie, and bonding.
Players to Watch:
While the team is young, it boasts two promising players: senior Outside Hitter Gabby Gleaves and setter Lila Wolf. These rising stars have demonstrated impeccable leadership and show great potential for the upcoming season. Their hard work and dedication should inspire their teammates.
Weight Lifting and Fitness:
As part of their training, St. Paul High participates in the PNSV overnight tournament, providing the team the unique opportunity to stay together and build unity. The pre-season Guy Enriques Team Camp at Seaside also serves as essential team bonding time.
Nutrition:
The team believes in the power of proper nutrition and adequate sleep. These principles will be instilled in their regime to ensure optimal performance levels both during practice and in competitive matches.
Coaching Perspective:
Preparation for the season extends to the coaching staff as well. They are currently coaching a middle school club season as part of their strategy to groom younger players for the high school program.
Fan Engagement & Community Impact:
Many of the volleyball team members are also multi-sport athletes known in their community. They stay connected with the community by helping with duties like Rodeo parking and at Booster Club concession booths.
Biggest Challenges Ahead:
The most significant challenge this season? Rebuilding a solid lineup. However, with dedication, unity, and a clear offseason focus, St. Paul High School's volleyball team is setting up for an exciting season.
Conclusion:
While summer is typically a time to relax, for St. Paul High School's volleyball team it's a time to regroup, refocus and prepare for success. Though challenges lie ahead, their commitment to growth and unity this offseason speaks to their determination and resilience. As they continue to build on their tactical skills and foster togetherness, there's no telling what they'll achieve in the coming season. Watch this space.
