Title: Making Strides at the Copper Hills High School Girls Lacrosse Team
Introduction:
The Copper Hills High School Girls Lacrosse team is soaring to new heights. With a slate of new improvements and riveting player performances, the team erupted onto the lacrosse scene and made a name for itself in the recent season. We had the pleasure of interviewing Coach Maycie Gerber to give us the inside scoop on how the players reached their athletic feats during the spring postseason.
The Pillars of Success:
Elise Southworth and Tiffany Bach were the main builders of the team’s success this year. Southworth transitioned from two years of varsity defense to a dominating midfielder, contributing to 97 turnovers, a highest in the state. Additionally, her skill in obtaining ground balls, scoring goals, assisting others, and overall humble leadership molded her into an asset for the Copper Hills High School Girls Lacrosse team. Bach, on her part, proved to be one of the incessant scorers of the team, despite coming off a double hip surgery, her contributions were key to the overall positive performance of the team this year.
The Season of Growth:
Regarding the course of the season, Coach Gerber was delighted to comment on the numerous goals achieved by the lacrosse team. On paper, the journey may not look celebratory but anyone knowledgeable of the team's performance in the past years recognizes the substantial growth. More than the victory count, it's the team's improvement and resilience in the face of challenges that truly defines the season.
Building on Unity:
Another shining aspect that characterized this season was the unity spurred by the seniors of the team. According to Coach Gerber, the senior girls led with humility and love, creating a "culture of unity" encompassing the whole team and maintaining a drama-free environment which contributed immensely to their success.
