Title: Dedication and Development: YWLA-SA Cross Country Team Gears Up for the New Season

Introduction:
As seasons change and the leaves assume autumn shades of gold and crimson, Young Women's Leadership Academy San Antonio (YWLA-SA) Cross Country team begins fervent preparations for a new year of athletic challenges and victories. Under the steadfast direction of Coach Cheryl Thienpont, the team is set to tackle their offseason training with a gritted determination to improve endurance, speed and solidarity.

Offseason Training and Endeavors:
Amid their busy schedules and participation in various sports, the YWLA-SA's Cross Country young athletes are working actively to enhance their two-mile pace and overall stamina. Despite the multifaceted nature of their pursuits, running remains the heart of their regimen. The summer witnesses increased team commitments, with conditioning workouts held 3-5 times a week at MacAlister Park and Concepcion Park.

Weather permitting, the team also gathers at Woodlawn pool for water endurance workouts, providing them with a change of scenery and an alternative conditioning method. During these sessions, they foster a spirit of unity while unconsciously building a resilient team dynamic.

Roster Updates and Prospects:
Despite losing senior star Carly Rodriguez to graduation and Maria Garcia, last season's most valuable runner, to recovery after knee surgery, the roster is fortified with returning players and talented newcomers. Bringing new energy to the team for the 2025-26 season are incoming freshmen runners, including an exceptional pair of middle school twins who are expected to add ignition to the team's ethos of hard work.

Setting their sights ahead, Coach Thienpont's strategy involves leveraging the fresh talent to partner with the returning members to foster an encouraging environment of competition, inspiring everyone to eclipse their personal best.

Emphasizing Health and Community Engagement:
Beyond physical fitness, the team also adheres to chef SA's nutrition program crafted for teenage athletes. This proactive approach to nutrition furthers underscores the program's commitment to overall athlete well-being.

Also noteworthy is the team's effort to engage parents in their offseason practices. Inviting them to join workouts not only strengthens the team-family bond but also offers a unique way to connect with their community, transforming their sports journey into a shared experience replete with support and solidarity.

Anticipated Challenges:
The most substantial challenge foreseen by Coach Thienpont concerns the offseason complacency that may arise due to vacations or other familial obligations. However, the coach remains hopeful that the ingrained culture of determination and discipline will prevail and help the athletes resist complacency and maintain their rigorous workout routines.

Conclusion:
The YWLA-SA Cross Country team is poised for a season of notable achievements and growth. United by determination, a zest for excellence, and an unwavering commitment to hard work, the team stands as a beacon of resilience and aspiration. Ensuring continued encouragement from the close-knit community, they are all set for the new season's journey, ready to race against all odds - and, more importantly, themselves.
